Birds Bakery Raises over £66,000 for Charity

Birds Bakery has announced that it raised an impressive £66,751.48 for charity during the 2023/2024 period, supporting a range of causes through fundraising initiatives and customer donations.

The majority of funds went to Cancer Research UK, which received £56,223.03 as the bakery’s main charity partner. An additional £10,528.45 was raised through various initiatives, including National Doughnut Week for The Children’s Trust, Wear it Pink, the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal, Air Ambulance, Macmillan, Melbourne Community Care, and Teenage Cancer Trust.

Looking ahead, Birds is delighted to announce that its next charity of the year will be Brainstrust, a UK-based charity supporting people living with brain cancer. The bakery team has chosen Brainstrust in support of one of its bakery managers, whose father has been diagnosed with the condition.

Maxine, a member of the Birds Bakery team, shared why Brainstrust was chosen:

“The charity was chosen as a colleague has a family member who is suffering with brain cancer, so we wanted to be able to show our support to them and the trust. By working with a small charity, we hope to raise awareness in the community so they can support them too.”

Lesley Bird, joint managing director at Birds Bakery, expressed her appreciation for customers and staff who contributed to the fundraising success:

“We are incredibly proud of the impact we’ve been able to make through our charity initiatives this past year. A heartfelt thank you goes to our loyal customers and dedicated team members, whose generosity allows us to support vital causes year after year. We are especially honoured to be supporting Brainstrust this year, as it is a cause very close to our hearts.”
