The Addo Food Group Nottingham bakery site has seen six members of staff test positive for COVID-19 following an outbreak.
The company, who produce goods predominantly for supermarkets around the UK, confirmed that the site in question was the Riverside Bakery facility, located in Crossgate Drive.
However, the company have elected to keep the bakery open, even though the latest outbreak has now seen 1% of all Addo Food Group employees test positive for the virus.
Speaking in a statement to ITV News, a company spokesperson insisted that despite keeping the bakery open, health and safety of employees is still the number one priority for the company, while also maintaining that since the very beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, they have implemented and followed all the required guidance.
“We take the health and safety of our employees seriously and since the start of the pandemic, we have implemented and strictly followed government guidance on screening, social distancing and hand washing and continue to take additional steps to help prevent further spread of the virus and reduce risk within our business,” the spokesperson said.
One of the reasons for keeping the bakery open was that the company are working very closely with Public Health England, to ensure that safety is kept.
