Belgian pastry specialist, Pidy, has introduced a plant-based coating option for its tartlet range. The protective coating is an optional extra for Pidy’s range of vegan pastry cases, called Trendy.
It is said to improve moisture resistance and help finished products maintain their crispiness for two days, even after being filled. This means chefs can prepare and store products ahead of service, Pidy added.
Pidy has rolled out several new additions to the range over the past year, including a vegan fluted shortcrust pastry base and micro and shallow tartlets.
“All products from the Trendy range feature Pidy’s signature melt-in-the-mouth pressed shortcrust pastry recipe and unique design, but now our customers can also add a protective coating for the very best results every time,” said Fabien Levet, commercial manager at Pidy UK.
The Trendy collection comprises pastry cases in round, square or triangular varieties with sweet, neutral or chocolate options. They’re suitable for both cold and warm applications.
“We are delighted that the popularity of our Trendy collection allows us to continue developing and extending the range further to meet the specific needs of our customers so closely,” Levet added.
