French bakery manufacture Bridor introduced its new Panidor range at the International Food & Drink Event (IFE) in London. The new collection, which is inspired by Portuguese bakery cultures, includes Pastel de Nata, Bolas de Berlim and a selection of four mini bread rolls as part of the company’s efforts to showcase bakery cultures of the world.
The introduction of the Panidor collection is geared to inspire show attendees to discover bakery products that will enable them to tap into popular global trends. The collection is made at the company’s production site in Panidor, Portugal.
Bridor’s Pastel de Nata taps into global demand for the Portuguese pastry which has amassed sales of UK£11.6 million in the UK. Company research among consumers that eat this pastry revealed that 37% of consumers claim to eat the pastry at least once a month. Bridor’s version of Portugal’s classic custard tart is available in two varieties, either made with margarine or butter.
Also featured in Bridor’s Panidor range is its Bolas de Berlim, the Portuguese version of the Autro-German Berliner, or doughnut. It is made with a soft fried dough that offers a slightly honeycombed taste. Outlets are able to choose from the Plain Bola de Berlim in an 80g format, which can be personalised with cream, jam or chocolate, the Cocoa-Hazelnut Bola de Berlim in a 120g format or a Creamy Bola de Berlim, also in a 120g format.
Research shows that 39% of those surveyed by Bridor in Europe regularly consume doughnuts, and of those, 53% say they enjoy this treat as an afternoon snack. The introduction of Bolas de Berlim to any hospitality outlet will pull in consumers looking for a sweet snack to enjoy in the afternoon.
Bridor’s Panidor range also includes a selection of four Mini Bread Rolls as an accompaniment to lunch or evening meals. Outlets can choose from Rustic Mini Rolls, which are made with a blend of wheat, rye and malted barley flours; Cereals & Seeds Mini Rolls, which feature a unique mix of seeds in the dough such as flax, sesame, sunflower, oat flakes and rye flakes; Dark Mini Rolls made with carob flour, and Fig & Honey Mini Rolls that have a slightly sweet note.
