Ingredion to showcase ingredients at SNACKEX

Ingredion experts will be on hand at the SNACKEX 2024 trade fair to demonstrate how its latest ingredient solutions can help manufacturers meet consumer demands for snacks that combine nutrition, convenience and a great taste.

Ingredion will showcase a range of innovative snack prototypes at the event, which takes place on the 19th and 20th of June in Stockholm, Sweden. Ingredion’s experts will be available to talk to visitors on stand 412 throughout the trade fair.

“The way we approach snacking has fundamentally shifted in response to unprecedented changes in our daily lives, from global disruptions to economic and environmental concerns,” said Juliette Maliska, Technical Service Manager for Bakery, Snacks, and Confectionery at Ingredion. “Snackification has evolved from a trend to a lifestyle adjustment, reflecting consumers’ desires for a combination of convenient and nutritious products that have a great taste and texture. Our lineup of snack innovations at SNACKEX is designed to meet these needs.”

The snack prototypes on display use multiple Ingredion solutions like VITESSENCE® Prista proteins, VERSAFIBE™ 285 soluble corn fibre, HI-MAIZE® 260 resistant starch and PURITY™ Alpha 865 starch. These ingredients enable various nutritional claims like high protein and high fibre while delivering the sensory satisfaction consumers expect. The prototypes include harissa lentil crackers that are non-HFSS and a source of protein and fibre, and high-protein puffs with a Nutri-Score A rating. In addition, Ingredion will be sharing a platter of high-fibre crispy crackers with a light, crispy texture, and high-fibre chocolate and chilli crunchy peanuts that are a source of protein and feature a Nutri-Score A rating.

“Traditional eating patterns around three square meals a day are no longer dominating, with consumers blurring the lines between meals and snacks. As such, consumers want nutritious snacks that save time while satisfying cravings for indulgence,” added Maliska. “This ties into a broader shift towards mindful snacking, with people seeking snacks with less fat and sugar, and more beneficial ingredients like protein and fibre. Our ingredient solutions cater to the dual need for better-for-you options and sensory appeal.”

“Around half of European consumers snack to cope with stress,[1] highlighting the role of snacks in mental and physical wellbeing,” Maliska added. “SNACKEX provides an excellent platform to showcase how our ingredients can help manufacturers develop snacks that support these needs, from protein-rich options for nourishment and performance to permissibly indulgent snacks. We look forward to discussing these solutions at stand 412.”
