Courtney Gaine, Ph.D., R.D.

Courtney Gaine, Ph.D., R.D., is the President and CEO for the Sugar Association in Washington, D.C., a position she has held since January 2016. Dr. Gaine has a passion for baking and science, and educating about their intersection. She served as President of the Home Baking Association Board of Directors from 2019-2022 and as Chairman of the World Sugar Research Organization Board of Directors from 2021-2023.  A native Washingtonian, Dr. Gaine obtained her Ph.D. in nutritional sciences and biochemistry and bachelor’s degree in dietetics from the University of Connecticut, where she was also a co-captain of the UConn women’s basketball team. Her roots in baking and nutrition run deep, having started the baking club at her high school.
