AMB Spa, headquartered in San Daniele del Friuli, Italy, announces the acquisition of German PTS – Prime Tray System – Packaging from Gauting, Bavaria. PTS develops innovative industrial packaging solutions with products from various well-known manufacturers for its customers in the German and international market. Amongst other activities, PTS has been responsible for sales of the AMB product range for around 20 years. With the takeover of the German packaging expert, the international AMB, headquartered in northern Italy, is strengthening its market position, particularly in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
More customer service and an expanded portfolio
AMB is one of the leading international suppliers of rigid and flexible films, uniquely offering an end-to-end process: from packaging design to toolmaking and prototype production to film production. AMB offers customers the complete range of services along the entire process chain from a single source. The integration of PTS into the AMB family, allows AMB to expand its range of services and provide an even higher level of customer-oriented, individual support to its existing client base as well as expanding into new business relationships.
Rolf Liebfried, CFO at AMB, emphasizes: “PTS has the unique ability to build strong and long-term customer relations based on expertise and trust. These values also shape our daily work at AMB. We are pleased that Mr. Dietrich and his team are now an integral part of AMB.” Jan Dietrich, owner of PTS, adds: “The holistic approach highlighted by AMB’s business positioning ‘Designed to be different’ has enabled AMB to develop a clearly defined, unique market position that perfectly matches our own way of thinking. We have much in common with AMB because innovation and future-oriented thinking have always been the key to success at PTS. This is positive news for our customers: we can now offer our existing customer base a significantly expanded range of products and services.”
Continued growth strategy
PTS is AMB’s second acquisition in only 12 months. In June 2019, the Italian company acquired TDX (Europe) Limited, based in Newcastle, GB. TDX is a market leader in the field of PET and RPET films as well as laminated rigid films for the food and packaging industries. The acquisition of the British film specialist enabled AMB to become a full-service provider for packaging design, rigid and flexible films, and tool manufacturing.
Giles Peacock, COO at AMB, explains: “The acquisition of PTS will further strengthen our European footprint and at the same time allow us to move closer to our customers from the heart of Europe. We aim to create a one-supplier relationship right to the doorstep of our clients, delivering packaging design, tool manufacturing and material supply. We have a clear vision of how to expand our reach and continue our growth strategy. The acquisition of PTS is one step on this exciting journey.”
The takeover of PTS further strengthens AMB’s ambition to become European market leader. This expansion allows the company to provide a one-stop shop service – from concept design and tool manufacturing to product specifications as well as print design and application. It now has an even more extensive product portfolio, a wider reach with five locations in Europe and an international sales network of 435 employees, and a turnover of over 160 million euros.
