Baker & Baker introduces lemon cheesecake doughnut

Baker & Baker, a European bakery products manufacturer, has introduced a double-filled lemon cheesecake doughnut in the UK.  The doughnut, the second doughnut released under the premium Black Label brand, has been launched to enable customers to tap into the market whereby consumers are prepared to pay more for a truly premium product.

The new treat is double-filled with the perfect blend of creamy curd and zesty, sweet lemon, and is topped-off with bright yellow drizzle waves and pieces of white chocolate on yoghurt icing. The premium doughnut, which provides a refreshing twist for consumers, also contains no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives and is suitable for vegetarians.

“We’ve introduced this product to help our customers tap into an opportunity to drive margins in a challenging environment”, comments Helen Sinclair, UK marketing manager at Baker & Baker. “Our market research shows that time and time again, consumers are prepared to find the money to spend on a premium treat… but only if it’s truly premium. When life gave Baker & Baker lemons, we have given the world a luxury, double-filled, premium lemon cheesecake doughnut.”

The thaw and serve lemon cheesecake doughnuts are a limited edition to Baker & Baker’s portfolio of sweet treats and available until September.  It is the company’s third treat launched in just four months, following the launch of its Victoria muffin and the Black Label salted caramel and nut doughnut.

The product has a three-day shelf life when chilled and should be consumed on the same day when stored at ambient temperature.  It is available to foodservice and bakery wholesalers through the usual channels. A range of marketing assets have been created to support the launch including a digital toolkit including banners and images.
