Bimbo QSR announces staff cutbacks

Bimbo QSR, a division of Mexico City-based Grupo Bimbo SAB de CV, has recently made 13 employees redundant at its Valdosta, Georgia baking plant.

Grupo Bimbo issued a statement explaining the decision: “After a thorough analysis and reflection, we have reluctantly decided to decrease our operational capacity by shifting from three to two daily shifts at our Valdosta bakery in the USA. This restructure has unfortunately led to the loss of 13 roles. Such decisions are always challenging; however, we greatly value and recognise the contributions made by our associates at Bimbo QSR. We foresee no significant alterations to our product range, customer service, or business operations during this period of transition.”

Established in late 2022, the Valdosta facility saw an investment of $25 million from Bimbo QSR and is focused on producing buns for hamburgers, hot dogs, and sandwiches, serving quick-service eateries throughout the southeastern United States.

Globally, Bimbo QSR supplies buns and artisan rolls to quick-service restaurant chains from its network of 50 bakeries across more than 23 countries. The company, which recorded net sales surpassing $574 million, was previously known as East Balt Bakeries before being acquired by Grupo Bimbo in 2017.
