Brenda Adams, Application Specialist – Bakery Enzymes
If you weren’t working in this industry, what would you be doing?
If I had not found Bakery Science, I think I would have found a career path working in animal care or supporting others since I love animals and helping people.
What about working in this industry excites you?
I love working in the industry because there are always new things to learn, try, or create. There is always an opportunity to figure out solutions for our customers, which keeps it exciting and interesting.
Which celebrity would you meet, alive or dead?
I think it would be fun to meet Julia Child or Mary Berry. They are both very talented women, and I have enjoyed many of their recipes.
What’s your favourite baked goodie?
I think I would have to say anything my grandmother baked with me while growing up, especially her apple pie and gingerbread cookies.
Where in the world have been your favourite places to visit?
I really can’t say that I have a favourite place in the world to visit as I have not ventured outside of the United States very much. However, I always love visiting family… and anywhere that reminds me of a Hallmark Christmas movie!
What do you do in your free time?
I really enjoy spending time with family and friends creating memories. Whether that be movie nights, game nights, crafting, or baking/cooking; it’s always a nice time. I also enjoy spending time snuggling with our animals.
What message do you live your life by?
Focusing on staying positive even amidst challenges, trusting the process, and treating others really well.
Who’s had the biggest impact on your life?
My grandmother was the person with the biggest impact on me while I was growing up. I have so many fond memories I will always cherish. She is the reason I fell in love with baking, and she showed me what it was like to help and care for others through all the volunteer work she would do.
Name a time you like to look back on.
I’d have to say reminiscing on the times spent with my mom and grandma or some of our family trips. It was always nice to go for walks or sit outside on the patio enjoying each other’s company.
What is your most unusual talent?
Although I’m allergic to pumpkins, I’m really good at carving them!
