Brill Inc. – a subsidiary of a CSM Bakery Solutions, says it is ceasing manufacturing at its Atlanta Frozen facility at 3301 Montreal Industrial Way in Tucker, reports The Atlanta Business Chronicle. 240 employees are said to be losing their jobs, according to a notice filed with the Georgia Department of Labour.
The closure does not impact Brill’s other local operation located at 1912 Montreal Road in Tucker, which will continue operating business as usual, the company told Atlanta Business Chronicle.
“The decision to suspend manufacturing at this facility comes after a comprehensive review of manufacturing capabilities, and our determination that Brill can better serve its customers more efficiently from elsewhere in its supply chain,” the company said. “Brill believes this re-alignment of its manufacturing footprint will strengthen Brill’s operations and fortify its position as the most efficient supply chain in the bakery products industry with the capability of serving customers with superior bakery products and ingredients.”
The Atlanta Frozen Facility is one of eight manufacturing facilities that Brill operates in the United States and has been in continuous operation since 2001. The facility has manufactured a variety of baked goods products to include cookies, decorated cakes, and laminated dough since its inception, according to the company.
Brill said it will provide affected employees with a comprehensive package of transition benefits which includes severance pay, health care continuation and outplacement assistance.
