Comptoir Bakery to Launch Bake-at-Home Service

Comptoir Bakery is to launch a bake-at-home online delivery service which will enable home bakers to enjoy the magic of French baking from the comfort of their own kitchens, creating authentic pastries, such as croissants, pain au chocolat and pain aux raisins, with ease, from frozen.

The service will initially just be available to Londoners but is expected to roll out across the UK later in the year.

Founded by French master patissier Sebastien Wind, who has worked under Gordon Ramsay and Marco Pierre White, Comptoir Bakery has five locations across Borough Market, Southwark and Bermondsey and this year celebrates its 15th anniversary.

The family business is run by Sebastien’s son Quentin as CEO, with mum Sylvie’s artwork hanging in its venues and daughter Lola the event manager.

Quentin explained: “We are on a mission to bring the best of French baking to people at home, in London initially and then further afield, using only the finest, handpicked British and French ingredients, enabling people to flood their kitchens with the irresistible odours of fresh patisserie.

“In each case, the dough has been expertly created by artisan bakers in our own kitchens, not mass produced, and has been crafted using hand-picked, high quality ingredients. That is vitally important to us.”

He added: “We are constantly striving for new innovation and to bring new, delicious products to our customers – whether that’s in one of our bakeries, cafes or in their own homes. In a nutshell, we have taken French baking and made it fool proof for people to enjoy at home.”

Comptoir Bakery claims to have invented the viral brionut – the healthier cross between a brioche and donut – further proof of Sebastien and his team’s commitment to combining traditional French baking with modern demands.
