Dawn Foods debuts new doughnut glaze

Bakery manufacturer and ingredients distributor Dawn Foods revealed its new Global Bakery Trends Report and announced its latest product innovation Dawn Exceptional Pak Perfect Non-Sticky Glaze at IBIE this year.

For the last three years, Dawn Foods’ Global Market Research & Insights teams researched the most significant changes in consumer behaviour, including fielding a global study to create proprietary research. The team interviewed more than 3000 consumers and visited hundreds of bakeries, grocery stores and food service establishments to see how these trends come to life.

The 2023 Global Trends include Technology Transformation – how technology has changed the consumer eating experience whether this is via touch screen ordering or sharing food experiences virtually – Experience Exploration – consumers seek out foods that incorporate fresh and new flavour experiences – Daily Delights – consumers are finding ways to incorporate sweets into their daily routine – and Mindfulness Matters, where consumers are aware of how their choices impact on the planet, which found that 71% of global consumers are willing to pay a premium for sweet baked goods that are made sustainably.

Showcased at Dawn Foods IBIE booth, the glaze technology allows for packaged yeast-raised doughnuts to stay non-sticky for up to five days.

“Dawn’s latest doughnut innovation provides grocers and manufacturers with a solution that keeps yeast-raised donuts looking great while staying fresh, longer,” said Roja Ergun, Director of R&D Wet Ingredients, Dawn Foods North America. “Our new doughnut glaze remains intact, non-sticky and greatly reduces waste and assists with the labour needs of bakeries.”

At the show, Dawn executives and team members will also participate in multiple panels, events and education sessions throughout the show, including Sarah Hickey, Senior Director of Insights & Market Research participating in Dawn’s latest trends and insights in the bakery landscape, Alexis Gilbert, Senior Director Global Brand and Communications participating in a presentation on strategies to get bakery businesses noticed online and Dawn Foods’ own ‘Donuts with Dawn’, a women’s networking event to be held at the company booth.
