This month Birmingham-based, Miss Macaroon, celebrates ten years of storming the bakery world. Rosie Ginday MBE’s vision has helped many young people, while satisfying customers with award-winning macarons.
From humble beginnings in a small kitchen with a £500 budget, Miss Macaroon has dominated the baking world with it’s one of a kind pantone colour matching process, and determination to help young people achieve their dreams. Rosie Ginday MBE, founded the company based on her “passion for premium quality food” from her “training as a high-end pastry chef.. and experience in Michelin starred restaurant: Purnell’s”, but quickly found she wanted to provide opportunities for young people to build their confidence and break into the industry.
Miss Macaroon reinvests 100% of their profits to helping unemployed young people gain skills and find confidence in themselves to pursue careers.
“Through our supportive and collaborative approach to all the young people on Miss Macaroon’s courses, young people – often care leavers experiencing difficulties – benefit from pastry chef training, work experience, confidence building and on-going mentoring.”
MacsMAD trainees leave a ten-week course with a thorough five-year plan, updated CV, and extensive interview practice; as well as support beyond the course itself, and into work experience and employment.
One-of-a-kind pastry delights
Miss Macaroons award winning macarons are completely unique to the market, using a one-of-a-kind pantone matching process. From birthday gifts to crafted gift boxes, the range spans across all dietary requirements (including vegan and halal), but ensuring beautiful quality and taste are never lost.
On discussing her achievements, Ginday said: “My personal reward is that, as well as seeing young people flourish in what is a highly competitive industry and work confidently and diligently in the pressurised environment of a professional kitchen, I know my customers are also investing in these young people with the purchase of our products, and so are being rewarded on every level from their choice of macaroon.”
