Natural colour supplier Oterra has announced the appointment of Martin Sonntag as its new CEO, effective 1 January 2024. Currently a member of the Doehler executive leadership team, Martin has played an instrumental role in growing the Doehler business and strengthening the company’s position in the food and beverage ingredients sector.
Previously Martin worked at the Dow Chemical Company where he held technical, manufacturing and commercial roles of increasing responsibility in an international setting. Prior to joining Doehler he also worked at Ingredion, a US-listed ingredients supplier where he was a member of the executive leadership team.
“Martin is an experienced international leader with a strong track record in the global food and beverage ingredients industry. His plug-and-play knowledge will surely solidify and accelerate Oterra’s further development and growth in the coming years” said Cees de Jong, Chairman of the Board of Directors.
”I am truly looking forward to joining Oterra – a company with an impressive and relevant product portfolio in natural colors and unique application capabilities,” said Martin Sonntag. “The global consumer demand for planet-friendly products provides a significant opportunity for more products with natural ingredients, and Oterra, with its focused innovation gives customers around the world a strong base to drive conversion from artificial to natural ingredients. I am excited to begin to work with Oterra’s leadership team and its many committed employees to build the business with our customers.”
Martin is a German national, who holds a chemical engineering degree from Hamburg University. He will lead the company out of Oterra’s headquarters in Hørsholm, Denmark.
