Scottish Bakers annual conference and awards postponed

It has been announced the Scottish bakers annual conference and award has been postponed due to the health and safety precautions needed in the global pandemic. Although restrictions have been easing, it is not yet completely safe to conduct the event, which has been rescheduled for Friday 6 and Saturday 7 May 2022 at the Hilton Hotel, Glasgow.

On a statement on the event’s website it said: It is with a heavy heart that we announce that we will not be going ahead with the annual conference and Scottish Baker of the Year Awards for 2021.

Chief Executive of Scottish Bakers Alasdair Smith said: “Whilst the Covid vaccination programme progresses and we see restrictions slowly lifting, the board of directors and senior management team felt there is still too much uncertainty to allow us to effectively plan the event.

“We had hoped to be able to host an event in September, however the last thing we want to do is host an event that doesn’t meet our usual high standard, if we are still having to adhere to certain restrictions at that time.

Instead the conference will be back in May 2022 for what will undoubtedly be a massive celebration of achievement for the industry!”
