Standalone bakery for well-known restaurant group, St John’s Bakery, will expand into a second site in Borough, selling Fergus Henderson’s trademark doughnuts following the success of the firm’s Neal’s Yard location.

The site is due to launch in September in Fora, a co-working office on Borough High Street. The bakery forms part of a curated offering at the office space which will also include additional retailers and a fitness and wellbeing studio.

It will mark Fergus Henderson’s fourth site in London under the St John banner, alongside his world-famous Smithfield restaurant and Bread and Wine on Commercial Street. The restaurant group confirmed the two bakeries were in the pipeline in June last year following the closure of its Maltby Street site.

Henderson, St John chef and co-founder said: “Doughnuts are essential fuel in the mornings, wine is vital in the evenings – St John will keep Borough going all day long.”

Trevor Gulliver, St John CEO and co-founder added: “A bakery should be woven into the fabric of an area, providing an essential service for the community, from morning buns to loaves of bread and a bottle or two for the dinner table. In Fora we have found a happy home, surrounded by people who care as much as we do about hard work and quality.”
