Sweetmore Bakeries is delighted to announce the completion of its acquisition of Azteca Bakeries, a wholesale manufacturer renowned for its authentic Mexican pastries and baked goods. This acquisition enhances Sweetmore’s already extensive range of premium products, catering to both retail and foodservice channels.

Founded in 1954 and headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona, Azteca Bakeries has built its reputation on delivering authentic, delicious, and consistent products. By prioritising simplicity, purity, and quality in its ingredients, Azteca has developed an impressive portfolio of pan dulce, including pastries, cookies, breads, and muffins. Azteca now becomes the fifth member of the Sweetmore Bakeries family, joining Main Street Gourmet, Biscotti Brothers, Meurer Brothers, and Sweet Eddie’s.

David Veenstra, Chief Executive Officer of Sweetmore Bakeries, shared his enthusiasm for the acquisition: “Azteca’s exceptional quality and service standards make it a perfect fit for our business. We are thrilled to welcome them to our team. Their unique product range complements our portfolio, particularly in high-growth categories that are highly valued by our customers.”

Felix Lopez, Founder of Azteca Bakeries, echoed this sentiment: “Sweetmore’s commitment to exceptional quality and customer satisfaction aligns perfectly with the vision that the Lopez family and the Azteca team have nurtured.”

This acquisition strengthens Sweetmore’s position as a leader in delivering diverse, high-quality baked goods, while honouring Azteca’s rich legacy of authentic Mexican baking.
