AB Mauri launches high fibre bread mixes

AB Mauri has launched a new range of healthy and nutritional bread mixes aimed at offering bakeries the opportunity to meet consumer demand for healthier bakery products and rising awareness of gut health.

The new range, Pure ProGrains, comes in mixes with fibre, protein and digestive health benefits. According to the company, the ingredients have been selected so bakeries only having to add flour, yeast and water, and are versatile and flexible, as bakers are able to produce a variety of bread and rolls using the same mix.

“We believe we have a significant role to play within the UK baking industry to support our customers with bringing new technologies to market which can be used to formulate healthy and nutritious foods for consumers,” said Vicky McColl, Nutrition and Insights Manager, AB Mauri UK & Ireland.

According to Vicky, the company’s commitment to the Food and Drink Federation’s (FDF) Action on Fibre initiative – an initiative pledged by the organisation to increase fibre intake in the UK population – oversaw them working with technology and research partners to develop higher fibre foods which can bridge this gap.

Many of the company’s customers doesn’t have the time or resources to innovate, the company said, and it used global insights and development expertise to create products including Pure ProGrains.

“Meeting product characteristics such as great taste, texture and appearance whilst also fulfilling ‘hot’ consumer trends are key drivers for consumers buying behaviour,” explained AB Mauri sales and marketing director Andrew Dinsdale. “The development team have worked hard to innovate and create a modern range of healthy bread mixes that offer bakers with an attractive value proposition.”
