CSB solutions for sweet bakery

Zorbas Group

Cypriot bakery and confectionery producer Zorbas Group has said that the IT solutions of CSB System and their strong partnership has been “key factors” in its continued success and growth.

The CSB ERP system that Zorbas uses throughout the group which powers its website, provides the company with full integration, faster and more flexible logistics procedures and production processes, and optimisation of its supply chain.

First established in 1975 by Andreas Zorbas as a small backery in Athienou, the Zorbas Group has grown to operate three production units using the latest equipment and technology. The company also has 69 stories throughout Cyprus, with two recently opened outlets in the US, and a third due to open soon.

Zorbas Group’s main activity are the Zorbas Bakeries where bakery and confectionery products – along with cooked meals, salads and sandwiches – are on sale, with items prepared with fresh and high-quality ingredients.

According to the company, people have always been the most decisive factors in its growth, and supporting their commitment has happened in the form of it constantly evolving and upgrading its technology.

All stores and production facilities enter their orders into CSB’s ERP system, where available stock can be checked in real time. Based on orders and current inventory levels, the Production Planning and Scheduling program (PPS) in the CSB system calculates the production plan. Real-time analysis of data from other divisions of the company such as sales or the warehouses, allows the system to supply raw materials at the right time.

“This makes it possible for us to have fresh ingredients always available, while at the same time reducing waste,” explained Marinos Magafas, Software Administrator at Zorbas Group.

The CSB solution also allows effective quality control in goods receiving and production. Managers from different production sites can access latest statistics at any time, providing flexibility and full control for each operation.

“Without the integration of all company areas in a single software system, it would probably not be possible to achieve this high level of transparency,” Mr Magafas added.

Utilising mobile devices makes control processes of incoming goods faster and more flexible. From storing incoming raw materials to their movement through the factory, order-based handling and picking with automatic document management to route optimisation, all activities are carried out using intuitive M-ERP procedures.

Production processes are also monitored and controlled via CSB-Rack industrial computers with touchscreen technology, installed in many areas of the factories. For onward distribution, orders are loaded onto trucks according to planned routes, maximum load volumes and weights.

In addition to its bakeries, Zorbas has created Pralina Confectioneries and Pralina Experience restaurants based in Nocias and Limassol.
