Puratos and Estonian Malt have joined forces to launch Puratos Malt. The new joint venture will produce and distribute malt flours and sprouted grains to the bakery, food service and food manufacturing industries.
The JV follows six years of close collaboration between Puratos and Estonian Malt and aims to combine Puratos’ business insights and distribution network, with Estonian Malt’s expertise in sprouted and fermented wholegrains. Building on this successful partnership, the JV will allow both companies to shape the future of sprouted grains together. It will optimise production processes, work on improving packaging and shelf-life and develop new product ranges.
Puratos’ has worked to improve the nutritional value of its products and launch cleaner labels, as well as organic and plant-based alternatives. Estonian Malt takes a different approach to sprouted wholegrains: by fermenting the grains after they have sprouted, they develop a unique, natural sweet taste, while their moisture prolongs the freshness of the bread.
Julia Darvill, General Manager, Puratos UK said: “We know from our recent Taste Tomorrow survey that consumers believe healthy eating is just as much about eliminating unhealthy ingredients as it is about adding wholesome ones. This joint venture is focused on delivering products with the highest possible nutritional value, as well as great taste.”
