Zeelandia has said Masters of Pastry is a new international pastry competition for professional pastry chefs to compete on the highest level, and for an audience of pastry chefs to be inspired by the latest techniques and concepts from around the world.
Worldwide, teams from over 20 countries participated in the preliminary sessions of Masters of Pastry. Representing Poland, Italy and Greece, three teams made it to the Finals, broadcasted live online on May 19 and May 20 at 1700 CEST.
Each teams consist of a pastry chef supported by a Zeelandia pastry chef. By combining unique shapes, with the right flavour pairing, appealing colours and selected textures, participants design unique applications that will be judged by the expert panel of Willem Verlooy and Ramon Huigsloot, and by the viewers online.
Masters of Pastry is to inspire and connect professionals, for pastry chefs to learn techniques from the best and to be informed on the latest trends. It is all about discovering new ways to create.
The Italian team consists of Fabio Ferrari supported by Valentina Scanavaca, for Greece it is Giannis Tsichlis supported by Vagelis Kallioras, and for Poland it is Karol Plachta supported by Urszula Bartecka-Mataszewska.
Zeelandia Group recently announced the acquisition of Wouters N.V., a Belgian family business based in Lokeren, has been active in bakery ingredients, oils and frying fats for almost 100 years. A strategic acquisition due to its strong quality image in the Belgian market as a manufacturer of bakery pastes for the traditional bakeries, and because of the growth potential for the rest of Europe.
