Conceived by the baking industry, for the baking industry, the inaugural Baking Forum which is taking place on 19 May, has received a resounding approval from event sponsors and industry bodies alike.
The Federation of Bakers were keen to endorse The Baking Forum and see it as a unique opportunity to bring the industry together.
“The food and drink industry has been through a set of unprecedented challenges over the last 5 years. The bakery industry has risen to them all, but now is the time to take a strategic overview of the head winds,” explained Andrew Pyne, CEO, The Federation of Bakers. “Discussing and addressing the issues collectively, will help secure the wider bakery industry in a long-term standing to better manage the issues, including sustainability, labour markets, consumer behaviours, supply chains, and government regulations.”
A spokesperson for The Baking Forum said: “We’re delighted that something born out of frustration with other ‘industry events’ becoming increasingly tenuous, has come to fruition as something so hugely positive, relevant and stimulating”, adding: “We believe the focus on: the market place and its challenges, sustainability, together with discussions on how to attract new people to our industry, will appeal to all bakers of bread, cake and other baked goods, as well as suppliers to the industry; whilst at the same time supporting the Bakers Benevolent fund.”
The event was announced earlier this year, hosted by Roger Harrabin, who served as Energy and Environmental Analyst at the BBC, reporting for over 30 years. Topics over the one-day period the event is taking place on will include market insights, future trends, opportunities and challenges driving sustainability and how the government can support the industry.
The Baking Forum features AB MAURI as the event’s Gold Sponsor, with Bakels, CSM Ingredients and Zeelandia as Silver Sponsors. ait ingredients, American Pan, Caars, Fen Ferguson, ProAmpac, Rondo and TraceGains are all Bronze Sponsors.
“We’d like to take this opportunity to thank our major sponsors for so readily adding their support to what promises to be a memorable day for the Baking Industry,” said The Baking Forum spokesperson.
Andrew Pollard, Managing Director of AB MAURI UK and Ireland spoke positively of the event, saying the industry needed the opportunity to discuss and debate future challenges.
“Whilst we work towards addressing the ESG pressure, as so many other industries are doing, we continue to provide excellent nutritious, tasty, healthy and cost-effective baked product; the key staples of the UK diet. The Baking Forum brings these discussions to the fore. I’m certain that alongside all the excellent content, it will provide everyone with great networking opportunities in a relaxed and enjoyable environment.”
