The SoftDrop is a versatile soft-mass depositor designed to help bakery manufacturers expand their product portfolio while maintaining consistent product quality and operational simplicity. Developed as an alternative to larger depositing platforms, SoftDrop combines proven depositing technology with a standardised design. Suitable for a wide range of cake and biscuit applications, it is an ideal solution for producers seeking flexibility and reliability.
Expanding Bakery Production Possibilities
Designed for the accurate handling of soft and medium-consistency masses, SoftDrop can process products such as cake batters, muffin doughs, creams, jams, compounds, aerated masses, meringues, macarons, chiffon cakes, and filled products. With up to two depositor heads, the machine can process up to two different masses, supporting the production of filled, layered, or combined products and giving manufacturers greater freedom to diversify their product range.
Depending on the configuration, the machine can be used for depositing, wire-cutting, and extruding applications, enabling manufacturers to create a broad variety of shapes, sizes, fillings, and decorated products. This flexibility allows bakeries to respond quickly to changing market trends and customer demands without investing in multiple dedicated machines.
Delivering Precision and Operational Efficiency
A major benefit of SoftDrop is its focus on simplicity and ease of use. The machine features a lightweight pumphouse and a practical roll-on/roll-off concept that optimises cleaning and maintenance times. As a result, operators can achieve faster product changeovers and higher production uptime.
SoftDrop delivers excellent depositing performance with high shape accuracy and outstanding weight consistency. Depending on the recipe and machine configuration, the system can achieve a coefficient of variation (CV) of up to 1% or less, ensuring highly uniform products batch after batch. The machine is also capable of handling masses containing inclusions up to 4 mm, enabling additional product innovation opportunities while maintaining precise forming performance.
The platform is designed with long-term flexibility in mind. Existing V60 customers can retrofit SoftDrop onto compatible V60 machines by exchanging only two mounting brackets, creating a simple and cost-effective upgrade path. Combined with Bühler’s Playone HMI and Siemens control system, operators benefit from intuitive machine control, recipe management, harmonised operation across equipment, and remote support capabilities. The result is a modern depositing solution that combines product versatility, operational efficiency, and future-ready automation to support sustainable bakery growth and customer success.
