Baker & Baker, a European bakery products manufacturer, has launched a mixed box of premium muffins in response to customers requiring more flexibility and choice. Ideal for customers where freezer space is at a premium, the mixed box contains a trio of premium muffins and enables small and large operators alike to evolve their sweet treat portfolio to maximise sales.

“We’ve listened to our customers, and the mixed box format has been designed with flexibility in mind”, comments Helen Sinclair, UK marketing manager at Baker & Baker. “Flexibility which can help companies to increase choice, optimise freezer space and improve cashflow.  The box is ideal for smaller operators who face the weekly challenge of which savoury and sweet products to stock to meet customer demand, while larger operators can take the mixed box to offer a premium range alongside their standard selection.”

The mixed box includes:

  • Victoria Sponge – a deliciously moist Victoria sponge-based muffin with a classic strawberry jam filling topped with buttercream enriched with clotted cream and sugar nibs.
  • Carrot Cake – a wonderful tasting carrot cake-based muffin, with a soft cream cheese filling and topping and finished with walnut pieces
  • Red Velvet – a decadent rich muffin with an indulgent cream cheese filling and decorated with sugar nibs.

Thaw and serve

The thaw and serve muffins are in addition to Baker & Baker’s normal portfolio of products, have a two-day shelf life, and are available immediately via foodservice and bakery wholesalers.

“When we heard about the concept, we were eager to try the box given our limited freezer space on site”, says Shelly Makin, co-owner of the coffee shop Blended. “And while the mixed box enabled us to offer a selection of muffins to our customers without taking up too much space, the icing on the ‘cake’ were the muffins themselves – they tasted fantastic and were thoroughly enjoyed by our customers.”
