Nothing Bundt Cakes to open 600th bakery

This week, Nothing Bundt Cakes announced the milestone opening of its 600th bakery in Tampa, Florida. The Texas-based chain has already inaugurated 41 new locations this year and has ambitious plans for further expansion. CEO Dolf Berle shared with Restaurant Dive that the company aims to open over 120 new units in 2024, with a goal of achieving an annual growth rate exceeding 150 units per year.

Nothing Bundt Cakes boasts a wide array of bundt cake flavors, including classic vanilla, red velvet, and chocolate chocolate chip. These cakes are available in various sizes, from eight- and 10-inch bundt cakes to personal-sized “Bundtlets” and cupcake-sized “Bundtinis.”

In 2023, the bakery chain opened 84 new locations and is on track to reach its 1,000th bakery by 2027. Most of the current expansion is concentrated in the Northeast and Northwest, but Berle notes there is growth potential across all regions.

According to a press release, Nothing Bundt Cakes is “on track to become one of the highest-growth companies in the industry over the next few years,” with plans to open new locations in both new and existing markets. Berle emphasised that the chain will continue focusing on its franchise-owned bakeries, with 98% of its locations currently franchised.
