Vandemoortele and Délifrance can now operate as one following clearance of their transaction by the UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), marking the start of a new chapter for the two bakery businesses.
Vandemoortele acquired Délifrance at the end of December 2025. The European Commission cleared the transaction on 18 December 2025, subject to the divestment of Délifrance’s Béthune and Avignon plants and related French customer relationships. The CMA has now also cleared the deal, conditional on the divestment of Vandemoortele’s Worcester plant and related UK customer relationships.
Creating a major European bakery platform
The combination brings together Vandemoortele’s established bakery operations and production strength with Délifrance’s French bakery expertise, brand and customer relationships.
Together, Vandemoortele’s Bakery Products business and Délifrance employ around 6,000 people across 41 production sites in Europe, the US and Asia, with combined turnover of close to €2.2 billion. The enlarged operation will significantly expand the group’s bakery portfolio, production footprint and commercial presence across Europe and beyond.
Yvon Guérin, CEO of the Vandemoortele Group, said: “Délifrance brings recognised bakery know-how, an inspirational brand, strong customer relationships and talented people.”
He added that Vandemoortele brings operational strength, entrepreneurship and a long-term perspective, with the combination strengthening its ability to serve customers while creating further opportunities for growth.
New Vandemoortele Délifrance business
Vandemoortele’s Bakery Products business line will now operate as Vandemoortele Délifrance, reflecting the integration of the two organisations and their ambition to create a more customer-focused bakery business.
Peter Boone, Managing Director Bakery Products, said the alliance would support deeper category understanding, bolder innovation and the development of more relevant, value-creating bakery solutions.
Robert O’Boyle, CEO of Délifrance, stressed that continuity would remain important, with customers continuing to work with existing teams while gaining access to the broader capabilities and long-term investment capacity of the enlarged group.
Founded in 1978, Délifrance specialises in bread, viennoiserie, pastry and savoury products for retailers, foodservice customers and artisan bakers.
