Despite the global pandemic Warburtons are delighted to announce that their colleagues have worked tirelessly to hit the magnificent milestone. Driven by Charity Champions up and down the country, their people have baked, run, swam, cycled, given through their pay and donated pre-loved items. There isn’t much that their people haven’t done to help beat cancer.
As part of the Warburtons Community Programme, Families Matter, Warburtons partnered with Cancer Research UK in 2015 with the aim of raising £300,000 over four years to match a donation made by the Warburton family. Rising to the challenge, Warburtons smashed this target in just two years. The fundraising didn’t stop there, and our people have been organising and taking part in fundraising activities, they’ve donated generously and in under seven years we’ve now raised a whopping £2.5 million!
Professor Caroline Dive, Interim Director of Cancer Research UK Manchester Institute said:
“Thank you to all Warburtons employees across the UK for raising an incredible £2.5m for Cancer Research UK. Amongst other things, your support has helped me and my team to develop a blood test that can detect lung cancer and predict if it might return. It has huge potential to provide doctors with a simple way to diagnose lung cancer earlier, and to monitor someone’s treatment. On behalf of my team and all of the researchers you’ve supported over the years, thank you for your ongoing commitment to Cancer Research UK. Together, every day, we’re getting closer to beating cancer.”
