GEA is engineering innovation for the future of industrial baking through its solutions supporting a broad range of bakery applications

Today’s bakery manufacturers face growing pressure to improve efficiency, flexibility, sustainability and product innovation while responding to increasing consumer demand for greater product variety. From traditional biscuits and crackers to premium filled cookies, cakes and tarts, producers need technologies that enhance productivity, optimise resources and reduce operating costs.

In this evolving market, GEA Bakery strengthens its position as a global technology partner by delivering advanced processing and baking solutions that combine engineering expertise with application know-how.

Solutions for every bakery application

GEA’s portfolio covers a broad range of bakery applications, with particular expertise in hard dough biscuits and crackers, soft dough biscuits, cakes, and pies and tarts.

For hard dough products, GEA delivers high-capacity solutions designed to ensure consistency, precision and reliable throughput. In soft dough applications, the company’s technologies enable manufacturers to create a wide variety of products with different textures, fillings, shapes and inclusions while maintaining precise process control.

The same focus on flexibility and quality extends to cakes, pies and tarts, where GEA solutions support accurate depositing, reliable forming and repeatable baking performance, helping producers meet demand for premium and differentiated products.

Driving innovation through advanced extrusion and depositing technologies

Innovation remains a driver of GEA’s growth strategy. One of the latest additions to its portfolio is the GEA Bake Extruder, developed for medium and large-scale biscuit manufacturers. Designed for wire-cut, co-extruded, filled and continuous extruded products, the system delivers exceptional versatility while maintaining high levels of precision. With a redesigned wire-cut system capable of reaching up to 350 strokes per minute, it establishes a new benchmark for productivity and product consistency.

GEA has further strengthened its portfolio for soft dough biscuits and cakes with the GEA Bake Depositor MO and the GEA Bake Depositor 2LC. Both solutions are designed to maximise production flexibility while simplifying operation and changeovers.

Supporting the transition to sustainable baking

Sustainability is a strategic priority for GEA and is reflected in its Add Better ecolabel, independently validated by TÜV according to ISO 14021. The label identifies technologies delivering measurable environmental improvements, including lower energy consumption, reduced water use or less waste. Both the GEA E-Bake G2 electric tunnel oven and the GEA Bake Depositor MO carry the Add Better label, demonstrating GEA’s commitment to helping manufacturers improve environmental performance while maintaining high productivity and product quality.

Beyond equipment: expertise and digital services

GEA’s support extends well beyond equipment installation. Through the GEA Bakery Experience Center, customers can collaborate directly with GEA specialists to test recipes, validate new product concepts and optimise processes before scaling up to industrial production. This approach helps reduce development risks, accelerate innovation and improve production readiness.

In addition, GEA InsightPartner provides remote monitoring, performance analysis and predictive maintenance capabilities that help manufacturers maximise uptime and optimise line performance.

By combining innovative equipment, application expertise, sustainable technologies and digital services, GEA Bakery helps manufacturers worldwide build efficient, flexible and future-ready bakery operations.
