Bread Ahead Celebrates World Egg Day

Bread Ahead and Clarence Court are celebrating World Egg Day with the launch of the first Future Bakers Breakfast Club, offering children the opportunity to learn practical baking and cooking skills through a series of free workshops.

Taking place on Saturday 10 October 2026 at Bread Ahead’s baking schools in Borough Market and Wembley, the 90-minute sessions will teach children how to bake their own white tin loaf from scratch before preparing a soft-boiled egg and soldiers.

The event forms part of Bread Ahead’s wider Future Bakers Project, a long-term initiative designed to give children and young people practical baking skills, confidence and creativity.

Building practical baking skills

Launched in May 2026, Future Bakers has already welcomed 807 young participants and is approaching its next milestone of teaching 1,000 children and young people how to bake.

Bread Ahead ultimately aims to reach one million young people by 2036, with interim targets of 100,000 by 2028 and 500,000 by 2032.

The programme combines free hands-on workshops with online recipes, activity packs and learning resources, while schools and youth organisations can also register for dedicated sessions tailored to different age groups.

Matthew Jones, Founder of Bread Ahead, said: “I’m incredibly passionate about giving young people the practical skills and confidence they need to stand out, thrive and succeed in life. I left school at 16 and worked my way up in the baking industry, so I know how valuable those skills can be.

“It’s truly wonderful to be working with Clarence Court on the Future Bakers Breakfast Club and helping even more young people discover the joy of baking and what they can achieve for themselves.”

Taking the experience home

Places are free and available on a first-come, first-served basis, with families asked to book only one workshop per household. Bookings opened on Thursday 17 September through the Bread Ahead website.

For families unable to secure a workshop place, a free step-by-step Future Bakers Breakfast Club video will be available online from 10 October, enabling children and their families to recreate the bread, egg and soldiers activity at home.

Clarence Court is also extending the campaign with a competition for young bakers. From World Egg Day on Friday 9 October, children can enter through a parent or trusted adult’s Instagram account by sharing a photograph or video of their dippy egg creation, following and tagging Clarence Court and Bread Ahead and using the #FutureBakersBreakfastClub hashtag.
