Soft Robotics at IBIE

Soft Robotics will be showcasing mGripAI at the International Baking Industry and Exposition this year, 18-21 September 2022.

mGripAI utilises 3D perception, soft grasping and state-of-the-art artificial intelligence to help machine builders and end users address complicated picking tasks previously dependent on human labour in the food and consumer goods industries.

At the show, the company will demonstrate the technology through two tasks: Doughnut Sortation, where it will be responsible for picking, sorting and packaging of doughnuts at a rate of up to 70 picks per minute, and Bin Picking Bread, the 3D bin picking and sorting of bread at up to 23 picks per minute.

“IBIE is the perfect platform to showcase our high-speed automated picking solutions,” explained Paul Kling, Vice President of Global Sales and Marketing at Soft Robotics. “Along with the protein and produce industries, the baking industry is also faced with labour and workforce challenges which are impacting production levels. Whether it’s breads, muffins, cookies, or cakes, we have technology and solutions to automate these processes.”

The benefits of mGripAI technology include saving on floorspace, reducing dependency on human labour, increased throughput, lower maintenance costs, safer products and reduction in food waste.

Staubli Robotics, another company in industrial automation will be demonstrating Soft Robotics’ mGrip, a modular gripping system, at booth 7255.
