MIWE is preparing to showcase new oven technologies, bakery refrigeration, automation and digital systems at südback 2026, giving bakery operators a range of options for addressing production, energy and labour requirements.
Announced on 15 September, the German bakery equipment manufacturer will use the Stuttgart exhibition, taking place from 24–27 October, to demonstrate technologies covering in-store baking through to higher-volume production.
Among the equipment highlighted for the event are thermal-oil baking systems including the MIWE thermo-static and MIWE thermo roll-in, alongside the electrically heated MIWE electro. The company will also demonstrate refrigeration, automated loading and digital production management.
Heating options take centre stage
MIWE is placing particular emphasis on the different heating technologies available to bakeries as operators assess energy supply, production capacity and future investment requirements.
Its thermal-oil portfolio includes the MIWE thermo-static rack oven and MIWE thermo roll-in, a convection trolley oven using thermal oil as its heating method. MIWE says thermal oil provides even and controlled heat transfer, supporting repeatable baking conditions across successive batches.
Electric heating will also feature prominently through the MIWE electro deck oven. The manufacturer says changes to energy infrastructure and increased availability of renewable electricity are encouraging some bakery businesses to reassess how their ovens are powered.
Rather than promoting a single heating technology for every application, MIWE is positioning thermal oil, electricity and conventional systems as alternatives that should be assessed according to the product range, required capacity, available energy sources, site conditions and operating costs.
Automation and digital control
MIWE will also demonstrate how oven technology can be combined with refrigeration, handling and digital systems to create more integrated bakery production processes.
At a joint demonstration with BÄKO, the manufacturer plans to show an automated process incorporating MIWE KR refrigeration, two MIWE roll-in ovens with automatic door opening, MIWE navibake and an autonomous industrial truck.
Its südback display will also include the MIWE ideal production oven with the MIWE athlet loading system, illustrating how automated loading can reduce manual handling and support more repeatable production processes.
Digital tools including MIWE navibake and its baking programme management systems are designed to allow recipes and operating parameters to be managed centrally. For bakery groups operating across multiple production locations or retail sites, centralised controls can help maintain more consistent processes while reducing dependence on individual operators.
Bakery refrigeration will form another part of the display, including the MIWE GVA e+ and MIWE smartfresh systems, reflecting the role that proofing, refrigeration and storage play alongside the baking process.
For bakery equipment buyers, the range illustrates how decisions around new ovens increasingly extend beyond baking performance alone, incorporating energy strategy, automation, staffing, refrigeration and digital process control.
